Shanbao Tong received his B.S. degree in Radio Technology from Xi'an Jiao Tong University, Xian, China in 1995 and his M.S. degree in Turbine Machine Engineering and Ph.D. degree in Biomedical Engineering from Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Shanghai, China in 1998 and 2002, respectively. From 2000 to 2001, he was a Research Trainee in the Biomedical Instrumentation Laboratory with Biomedical Engineering Department at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. He was a then Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Biomedical Engineering Department, Johns Hopkins School of Medicine from 2002 to 2005. Currently, he is a Professor in the Med-X Research Institute and the Associate Dean of the School of Biomedical Engineering at Shanghai Jiao Tong University. His research interests include neural signal processing, neurophysiology of brain injury, and cortical optical imaging. Prof. Tong is also an active Associate Editor of IEEE Transactions on Neural Systems and Rehabilitation Engineering and a member of IEEE EMBS Technical Committee on Neuroengineering.
