Percy Luu, Ph.D.

Dr Luu joins SINAPSE as the Head of Research Translation. His expertise is stemmed from a career in discovery research in neuroscience and also includes business training in science translation, intellectual property protection, medical device and drug development.
Dr Luu received his training in Molecular Cell Biology from UC Berkeley, conducting research in functional genomics, functional imaging, pharmacology and developmental neuroscience. He continued his training with a postdoctoral fellowship in the Psychiatry department at Stanford University, using electrophysiology and genetic approaches to explore core mechanisms of synaptic plasticity and the underlying basis of memory as it applies to learning, addiction and feeding.
His current research interest is in the area of functional monitoring of neural development and regeneration through the engineering and manipulation of G protein coupled receptors.
Dr Luu's business and translation expertise comes from experience working in the biotech/pharma industry, extensive exposure and involvement with the bio and medtech industry in Stanford and Berkeley and a 4 year tenure at NUS Enterprise, managing a portfolio of technology startup companies. Dr Luu’s responsibility to SINAPSE includes technology development, intellectual property, regulatory and clinical strategy, product development and derisking, public and private fundraising and industry partnerships.
