Axon-specific Mechanisms During Myelination and Peripheral Neuropathy Onset

(1) Axon myelination is studied in the context of neural activity. Beside the common molecular techniques, the project includes using optogenetic, electric and electromagnetic stimulation setups that are compatible with microfluidic culture system and allow for isolated stimulation of chosen subcellular regions.

(2) The aim of the neuropathy project is to find a molecular neuroprotective mechanism against the onset of chemotherapy induced peripheral neuropathy – a painful condition affecting up to 70% of patients during anti-cancer therapy.
